Dream Foundation Grants Dream to Dying Texas Farmer
Odyssey HealthCare Hospice Patient Receives Gift of Mobility
Von Ormy, TX, October 30, 2006—A local man, Tommie Zunker, will receive the gift of mobility on Monday when The SCOOTER Store teams with Dream Foundation to provide the terminally ill patient with a motorized scooter. Dream Foundation (www.dreamfoundation.org) is the nation's oldest and largest organization that grants final wishes to adults who have been physically, emotionally, and financially devastated by illness.
Mr. Zunker, 78, is in the final months of his battle with Cardio Pulmonary Disease and is under Odyssey HealthCare home hospice care. The disease has sapped his strength, leaving him without the energy to roam on his beloved farm. When he was in better health, Mr. Zunker rode his tractor on his land, with his oxygen tank beside him. But now he can't go outside and see his property since he can't walk and hold the oxygen tank.
"Tommie has come to us with a dream of a scooter. We are thrilled his dream will soon come true," said Dream Foundation Founder/President Thomas Rollerson. "We thank the entire team at The SCOOTER Store and Odyssey HealthCare for working with us to present this very special gift to Tommie."
