Dream Foundation Grants Dream to Dying Texas Farmer

Odyssey HealthCare Hospice Patient Receives Gift of Mobility

Von Ormy, TX, October 30, 2006—A local man, Tommie Zunker, will receive the gift of mobility on Monday when The SCOOTER Store teams with Dream Foundation to provide the terminally ill patient with a motorized scooter. Dream Foundation (www.dreamfoundation.org) is the nation's oldest and largest organization that grants final wishes to adults who have been physically, emotionally, and financially devastated by illness.

Mr. Zunker, 78, is in the final months of his battle with Cardio Pulmonary Disease and is under Odyssey HealthCare home hospice care. The disease has sapped his strength, leaving him without the energy to roam on his beloved farm. When he was in better health, Mr. Zunker rode his tractor on his land, with his oxygen tank beside him. But now he can't go outside and see his property since he can't walk and hold the oxygen tank.

"Tommie has come to us with a dream of a scooter. We are thrilled his dream will soon come true," said Dream Foundation Founder/President Thomas Rollerson. "We thank the entire team at The SCOOTER Store and Odyssey HealthCare for working with us to present this very special gift to Tommie."

Doug Harrison, CEO and Founder of The SCOOTER Store, said, "The Gift of Mobility program is an excellent example of The SCOOTER Store's mission of providing freedom and independence to those with limited mobility. We are honored to be able to partner with Dream Foundation and help Tommie fulfill his dream of having a scooter."

The SCOOTER Store in New Braunfels, TX. was founded 15 years ago by Harrison, and his wife, Susanna; the company is the nation's largest supplier of power wheelchairs and scooters in the country, and has provided more than 250,000 scooters and power wheelchairs to senior citizens and people with mobility impairments. "We believe that increased mobility can dramatically increase the quality of life for people who are mobility impaired," Mr. Harrison said. "We look forward to working with the Dream Foundation and providing a special gift of mobility to those who need it most."

Now in its 11th year, the Dream Foundation's mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families battling terminal illnesses. The Dream Foundation's goal is to ensure that no terminally ill adult whose life ends prematurely passes from this earth without realizing one final wish from the heart.
