Dream Foundation Grants Dream to Dying Rio Linda Woman

Santa Barbara, CA, Dream Foundation, www.dreamfoundation.org, July 11, 2006—the first and largest organization that grants final wishes to adults who have been physically, emotionally, and financially devastated by terminal illness, will be granting a dream to a Rio Linda woman today.

Patsy, 73, is in her final months of her battle with congestive heart failure. Her disease makes it impossible to walk more than a few feet without becoming extremely short of breath. She has access to a manual wheel chair however her husband is unable to push her in the chair easily due to his failing health. Patsy would like to still be involved in her community and activities outside the home however her ambulation prevents this. An electric scooter would give her freedom and choices.

Thanks to Dream Foundation, The SCOOTER Store, and Asset Preservation, Patsy will be receiving an electric scooter and a ramp as well a celebration dinner sponsored by Odyssey HealthCare, one of the largest hospice providers in the country.

"We thank the SCOOTER Store, Asset Preservation, Odyssey HealthCare and First Call Home Care and Hospice for assisting to make this very special dream come true for Patsy,"?comments Dream Foundation Program Manager Jackie Waddill. "By working together we are so pleased to continue to make dreams come true to those in their final year of life."

"The Gift of Mobility program is an excellent example of The SCOOTER Store's mission of providing freedom and independence to those with limited mobility, " said Doug Harrison, who with his wife, Susanna, founded The SCOOTER Store 15 years ago. "We are honored to be able to partner with Dream Foundation and help Patsy fulfill her dreams."

Now in its 11th year, the Dream Foundation's mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families battling terminal illnesses. The Dream Foundation's goal is to ensure that no terminally ill adult whose life ends prematurely passes from this earth without realizing one final wish from the heart.
