The SCOOTER Store Responds to New Power Mobility Rule

NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS—A new rule from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Conditions for Payment of Power Mobility Devices went into effect today. Also today, the DC District Court heard argument on the Power Mobility Coalition's suit seeking to enjoin the new rule.

The SCOOTER Store President Mike Pfister stated:

"Despite directives from key Members of Congressional leadership, pleas from the power mobility community, and harm to eligible beneficiaries, CMS marched ahead to promulgate its rule absent notice and comment."

"Bypassing notice and comment shuts physicians, beneficiaries, and suppliers out of the system. We now face a rule that will restrict beneficiary access to power mobility devices, drive many suppliers out of business, and cost taxpayers more money in long-term healthcare and nursing bills."

"As always, we remain committed to working with all sectors of the government to improve this necessary program. Together, we can find better solutions to help beneficiaries and save the nations healthcare resources."
